Brad's already done external stuff. WAG..... torque converter plug, if it has one is leaking or, front seal is bad. Suggestion: take it to a transmission shop

I can't drive it any where. It does not have transmission oil and it shuts off when the truck is hot.
Should I refill it with transmission oil again and see what happens.
also when I start the truck pieces of rusted metal comes out of the exhaust.
Thanks Fritz and Tim.

Sounds like the pump seal. Not hard to R&R seal. Hard part is getting tranny out to do it. If tranny was not working correctly or you think the tranny may have burnt up the clutches from running out of fluid then you might want to rebuild it. See if the guys can look at it for you.
As for the metal chips coming out or exhaust If the exhaust pipes are old or stock probably just the pipes / muffler deteriorating.
Engine shutting off? Possible bad ground. Fuel. Electrical? Wire connections at fire wall.
Good luck .

John, the trans seems to shit just fine, doesn't slip. It's just bleeding out from someplace. I'm hoping it will be one of the cooler lines.

my 71 SII would lose it through the shifter lever after sitting for awhile.

Probably the sifter seal. Fairly easy to do. More time consuming. Take off the tunnel cover inside your scout. Sifter. So you can remove the cable. Then the levers. Pull seal and replace. Good luck.
