Block is no good. Apparently one of the rods hit the block near the oil pump, and cracked it. Looked good until magnaflux. I already have another one half way torn down, I hope to get it to the shop before the weekend.

I got the other block to the shop Friday afternoon, he liked what he saw so far. It's not bored over, and was stored with oil in the cylinders. Crosses fingers.

I just talked to the rebuilder, he had to bore .06" over. It's coming along good, but not quite ready to go back together.

He asked what color I want it, if I wanted International red. I said yeah if you can find it, I can't. Well I did some searching after that, BinderPlanet has a lot on it. Many different opinions, different part numbers for different brands. I called our Tractor Parts, they only have IH red in a quart or gallon can. Then another thing comes up, these aren't engine paint. Someone on BinderPlanet said non engine paints hold in the heat, and it runs too hot. Another said he uses it on his tractor engine and it runs all day without problems. There were several I could order, but again not engine paint. I wanted to walk in and buy it anyway, anyone have the answer? I've used Ford red in the past, but want something closer.

Sounds like it might be done this week, I already got the radiator rodded out and the flywheel surfaced too. When I went by Thursday he was putting the pistons in. I put one back together in 03, but didn't want to do it this time.

Yeah. I've been limited to my Travelall, but I prefer to take my truck out wheeling.

I got the engine back a week ago, and have been cleaning, painting and installing parts. A new Robershaw thermostat showed up yesterday, new water pipes are due tomorrow. After that the only thing left to do is to take the engine off the stand and install flywheel, pilot bearing and clutch. Then it will be ready to drop in, I hope to drive it to IHWR.

I also helicoiled two holes in the top of the intake manifold, one for the thermostat and one for the carburetor mounting.

I was at a veterans retreat Sunday to Friday with my wife and younger son, a new clutch showed up while we were gone. I got it on yesterday. Image
