No doubt, I’ve never seen such a thing. Mike says he’s seen it a few times.

Used the truck to run errands today, everything seems good. The brakes work better than they have in a while, replaced a few parts that needed it.

I replaced the drivers side rear wheel cylinder yesterday, it was leaking. Today I adjusted the brake shoes back out, I had to back them off to get the drum off. Also bled the brakes today, it took a long time to get the fluid moving, then to get all the air out. But seems good now.

My drop hitch broke off right at the receiver tube last time I was hauling firewood, the safety chains did as they should. I bought a new drop hitch, but want to avoid the same thing happening again. I want to get some triangulation from hitch ball level to tube level, but back a ways. Basically making it a 45 degree link. It can be pinned for easy installation. I don’t know if this has been done before, I plan on searching.

Top picture.

I think the strongest way would be to go to the same hole the hitch ball goes through. The holes in the tubing are too big, and it’s only about 3/16” thick. I need to see if the hitch ball stud will reach through both pieces.

Middle picture.

The top could tie in to the two 1/2” bolts at the far end of the receiver tube.

Bottom picture.

Also this new hitch doesn’t go in enough to pin it. I have options: I could elongate the hole, could remove metal from the receiver on the bumper (either completely, or bottom only), I won’t remove metal from the new hitch, that’ll weaken it. If I elongated the hole, the hitch pin would only be holding when going forward. When backing up it would be held because the hitch is bottomed out in the receiver, not the ideal way to do it. Hmmmm.
